From May 3rd to 5th, 2012, InText Translation Company attended Networking Days held in Madrid. The event was hosted by the European Language Industry Association (ELIA). It was the first ELIA event for us and the twelfth conference of the series. The conference was attended by nearly 120 participants from all over Europe and beyond, including consumers and suppliers of translation services and providers of language solutions.
The program was divided into 6 tracks, focusing on Operational Challenges, Sales, Marketing and others. Presentations by Thor Angelo from LanguageWire, Anne-Marie Colliander Lind from Inkrease and Roy Allkin from Wolfestone Translation were among the strongest, to our opinion. Konstantin Dranch, the author of translationrating.ru, prepared an overview of the Russian translation market, while the keynote speech by David Frodsham from Moravia outlined the current state of the EU economy and markets.
InText Translation Company was represented by Olga Fomenko, PR and Marketing Manager, who was also among the speakers at the conference with a presentation titled "Value the Intangible: Metamotivation Ideas Upside Down". The presentation was devoted to aspects of work we rarely give the credit they deserve to and that may lead us into a crisis. Olga talked about work stress, ways to recover from it and how to avoid burnout. It drew attention to the people behind computer displays, creating translation, checking megabytes of text and controlling and managing in zeitnot. The audience was very engaging and gladly shared their experience which was even more proof of how common the issue of stress is in our hi-tech world.
As always, attending the conference was a great opportunity to forge relationships with our clients and partners thanks to the relaxing and energizing atmosphere of the official and unofficial social events.
The location of the conference was just perfect. Madrid is such a wonderful city to visit despite occasional showers throughout the day and evening chills. It had great networking opportunities, inspiring talks and delightful leisure time - all that together created fantastically positive emotions. Now itís time to share them within the team, with our clients and partners.
As always, plenty of photos are published on our Flickr account and video materials will soon be published on our YouTube channel.
ELIA is a non-profit organization established to connect professional organizations for translation, interpreting and localization companies across Europe and related organizations from other parts of the world, representing interests of its member companies in the European marketplace and promoting quality standards through the industry. ELIA Networking Days events take place twice per year. The next conference will be hosted in Budapest on from October 4th to 6th, 2012.
We would like to thank organizers of the event for the invitation and the great warm atmosphere!
