The InText Translation Forum was held on Saturday, May 21 outside Dnepropetrovsk, bringing together the team of in-house employees and the most dedicated freelancers, that have been stably providing us with professional reliable services on long-term basis during one day of intense communication and the exchange of opinions and ideas. The forum was organized for the first time and turned out to be a great experience for both the organizers and attendees.
The idea of creating a forum emerged when our company was brainstorming in order to take the next steps for achieving more effective resource management and when in search of new, additional effective models of cooperation with freelancers.
The agenda of the InText Translation Forum was designed to ensure that the attendees receive both useful and inspiring information related to InText's vision and standards as well as obtain a clearer vision of the translation and team work in general from the perspective of freelancers.
Some presentations gave insight into the company's workflow procedures, and others allowed us to get a better understanding of InText's evaluation and rating system for suppliers. The topics of the presentations that freelance translators chose to present at the forum were extremely valuable as outside the box thinking on the internal processes of the company. The panel discussion was last on the agenda, and spanned across a variety of topics, including the ratio between good style vs. accurateness in technical translations; functions of editors, proofreaders, and translators in the process of ensuring quality, etc.
The forum attendees were not only merged into a whirlpool of expertise, information, and contemplation material. It was also a unique opportunity to meet people who have been working with us for years, and to spend some quality time together. The ancillary events held as a part of the forum were of great help. Welcome drinks took place before the conference on Friday, May 20 and the official gala dinner was hosted on Saturday night. Both helped to create an unforgettable warm atmosphere and greatly facilitated the communication.
The forum proved that live communication between translators, editors, project managers, and the entire team is an essential step towards good quality and effective collaboration. In the future, InText plans to continue its strategy of uniting the people behind the translation work as a way to earn money, translation as art, and translation as passion. As always, photos are available on Flickr and we keep uploading video footage on YouTube. In addition, follow us to learn more about the future translation forum.
